Great Article about Beacon Press in the Boston Globe

Beacon Press LogoThe Boston Globe published a glowing article about Beacon Press, which is celebrating its 161st anniversary this year. The press, under the leadership of director Helene Atwan, recently moved from its historic offices behind the Massachusetts State House on Beacon Hill to a former factory at 24 Farnsworth Street near the city’s Fan Pier.

I am privileged to have had the opportunity to write two books with Beacon Press: The Court and the Cross: The Religious Right’s Crusade to Reshape the Supreme Court (2008) and American Privacy: The 400-Year History of Our Most Contested Right (2010).

The press and its entire staff (and in particular, its director) deserve a lot of credit for not merely surviving the upheavals in publishing over the last decade, but actually prospering in this complicated and often confusing time in literature.
